ok, first things first: this is a netflix-production, so the frames per second are not high
so sometimes it looks rather stiffly...
but after saying that lets get to the meat of it- because it has a rather good taste!

Ajin on AniDB

so my overall verdict is give it a watch, it is interesting and the story is fascinating with its concepts, yes it could be better, but it could also be a lot worse
i enjoyed it (and i rewatched it twice so far) so you might give it a try as well

as usual for all my reviews: contains spoilers
not that many this time around though

some facts first:
Cells at work on Animedb
anime; 14 episodes; 2018
--> that is the most recent anime i watched; WOW
each episode has abouer 24 min; but if you jump over start, ending and preview you get down to about 18-20min, which is reasonable
the animation style is rather good, especially when it comes to blood and fluids, also the colours are really bright, giving it an over all happy feeling

there there is 1 overall arch, but it's not really that important, and only 2 episodes are directly linked; the rest are short mini- stories where we get to know new characters or abilities that the characters in our blood vessles have;

there is scientifc background to most of all that is narrated - i checked up on it, so that is a plus; also i know now more about the blood in english and japanese than i do in my mother tongue *ups?*

yesterday, i was researching... something, but then i got sucked into the fascinating hole of ice scating, and THEN i found this perl, and i absolutely had to share it with you, because it is hilarious, but it is also amazing and fascinating and if you like sailor moon, give it a watch:

Binan Koukou Chikyuu Bouei Bu Love!
is the most ridiculous thing i ever watched and i laughed so, so hard at it.
basically it is summing up the whole magical-girl genre in one anime, and it does so in the most awesome way (when you can take the joke and the overstating and just admire the actors for their hard work)
it is truly entertaining though there is not really that much story to it: world gets endangered, 5 guys get chosen to save the world and one of them actually likes it - the adversaries are truly beautiful but also most amusing - its all around just a laugh-fest if parody is up your ally!

i personally enjoyed it very, very much- though the laughing made my stomach ache XD it is an astonishing pick-me-up!
Love Making!!! for the win!

sooo confession time
i am a huge mecha fan when it comes to anime, mechas belong to my all time favourite, they are just awesome and i adore them so, so much. as such it is a bit of a black point on my list that i never watched Neon Genesis Evangelion. a black point, i am happy to report i rectified last night.

on that: yes, i did binge watch all 26 episodes in one go, starting around 7pm ending around 3.30am - it was a glorious, glorious thing to do, and the perfect ending for my do- nothing-day where i just went to my grans for her birthday and then was taken back home and ignored my to do list and just had a nice time! glorious and i am so happy that i took this one day off, i needed it so, so much as rl is giving me loads of shits right now but totally holding back the giggles.

so with that out of the way my thoughts on neon genesis evangelion:

spoilers if there is anyone like me was the day before yesterday left )

dear folks prepare for a rant!

so you know i am a HUGE sailor moon fan, and yes i read the manga and the manga is ok and fine, but the anime is very good too - the original- and that is what i do i compare the original one to the new one and well the new one doesn't cut it for me:

spoiler alert everywhere! real SPOILERS - you have been warned! )

so yeah, i saw it, it wasn't really good because besides one moment with hotaru all angst, drama, romance and sexiness is just gone, the colours got worse and the transformations now take longer than before...
but yes if there is a season IV i will watch it too- just to compare and to have a good reason to rewatch the original episodes and to cry over the heartbreak there XD

so i used my time to finally do something good for myself and watched an anime!

Kekkai Sensen (血界戦線) also known as Blood Blockade Battlefront which was released 2015 and it's amazing.
it is in the now usual flat-style but while the animation is quite usual the story and the characters are not. though yes, the banter, and some of the scenes are quite certainly a been there - done that kind of scene, it is still refreshing. and even better is that the anime doesn't even try to be like the manga.
i also like the deeper meaning and how the normal can stand up against despair. and then there are some of the animation tricks used, being just awesome: the blood, and the fighting, and the overall feeling to it was just WOW
and i also enjoyed the ending a lot, and that is not something that is easily said about most of the animes.
the story told also was very interesting and i watched it in one go (as much as i could with the night making me fall asleep).
it's a very amazing story, and very worth the watch.

but the best part that there is:
this october comes season 2!!! and i of course will be watching it!
lucky me, when i found it, when season two is already nearly done XD

so before i go into this, and show you my nice list that i have, let me make one thing perfectly clear: i compare anime to anime! so the manga has nothing to do with it.
i'm also a huge, sailor moon fan! like i watch all the old episodes 200 of them nearly on a yearly basis! and i read the manga way to often because it is that beautiful and i like it that much.
so yes i am not easy to please...

my list - spoilers and opinion included! )

i really believe that a chance was missed here by first wanting to put too much into too little episodes and by saying "ok we only stick to the manga now and leave the old animation behind". from a marketing point of view i can see why they chose that route, but most of the fans who liked the first anime so much and watched it over and over and shared it with they kids were disappointed or simply though of it as hilarious but not that good. in the end it did not pay of well for them... but these stunts rarely do.

sit back and enjoy the ride!
this one simply takes you on it for sure.
BUT first: you have to accept it is GRAPHIC VIOLENCE and there is a shitton of blood in it- good, well animated blood that has meaning and sometimes it doesnt. also it's a non-linare sorta but not really kind of story, but if you can accept that, and in fact enjoy animated blood (because the animation of the blood really tells you a lot about how good the anime will be and this one - oh boy this one has it all!
they used very different styles on animations- they really went out of their way to mix it up, and that just glued my eyes to the screen!
i also like the different body style- while one can already see the - what i call "beautiful, flat and mass-produced" style - think of Vampire Knight, Ouran High School Host Club, Uragiri Boku no name shitteru etc - they all have the same style of faces and bodies, that's the style i mean-
and kurozuka is not in that style which i really find refreshing!

first things first kurozuka is pretty much a love story- with all the drama and politics around them (well in fact it has some star wars kind of element to it.
the characters are amazing- not just the animation but their actual development is just fascinating
and kuro is really an amazing character to have his story told.
the end is not that surprising if you are familiar with japanese story-telling but the way you go there makes it worth for
and the richness of the animation!
also my most favorite and sadly long gone Shiozawa Kaneto is doing a great job just as usual! and i so admire his voice- he could talk all to me the time - though that might make me unable to do anything but you know being horny *blushes*

please give it a try- it deserves your attention!

so wolf guy is an anime from 1992/1993 and based on the novels and mangas with the same name.
i personally only know about the mangas though and they are amazing, so yes i will be the first to say that i had high expectations and as far as story goes i was not disappointed- it is a good spinoff of the original.
however, and i have to speak bluntly- 20 minutes never felt this long.
and i'm not able to say why - which simply baffles me
the animation, given the time it was made is not bad; maybe i should have watched it with more focus? i don't know.
what i am amazed of is how you can see the ground works for wolf's rain in that anime.
what i really enjoyed was the variations of love they showed, and it can manifest in all it's different ways- and loyalty and how it manifests in us.
over all it's not a bad OVA- but even if it's not that long, it still takes time to watch it- it is not watched easily!

so first you ought to know that Mardock Scramble or for you katakana loving people out there マルドゥック・スクランブル is an anime out of 3 1 hour long episodes produced from 2010 to 2012. so yes, its not that young anymore
but I just found it in April this year and was now finally taking time watching it- and because it was so cool, I think that not only it deserves a review but to be also watched by you!
as far as anime is concerned this one was pretty dark especially in the first 2 movies. be aware GRAPHIC VIOLENCE!
but if you do not mind, and are always searching a new nice psycho- sifi story animated then you should totally go ahead and watch it!
the character design is deep and profound and the animation is pretty well made but not the cheap all-we-produce-now-kind of style
so now we talked about the technical details lets talk about the story (without spoilers! at least I hope so)

the whole movie is about motive, action and consequence and how to survive with nothing but your own survival instinct! and its not only the main character but also the others, either by living with there hunted past or trying to find a place in this world, its also about revenge- but I would say, I covered that with consequence of actions done
at the beginning everything is unclear and certainly not what one would expect, but hang on, it gets only better from there!
what I really liked about this anime was that not everything was good, that the main character was not a born ready to be a hero, and that most of the conversations made me think a lot. that some pretty serious math- principals were used were fun too
what I didn't like: its way to short, there many questions not answered - but than again this could be interpreted as a sign of how life goes one will never know all the answers

Colorful (2010) is a really amazing anime with and interesting story.
its about a boy, who died but gets something like a 2nd chance, but for that he has to undertake a test.
its an interesting story, with lots of drama and things that everyone of us know and can relay to and also scenes we wish to never have to see through. you also get some kind of imegine of the japanese schoollive and how it could be.
the artwork was really amazing, and its done with great care.
if you are bored of the mainstream style of animes this one will make you happy, and with a twisted kind of humor you will have an very enjoyable time.
the anime is a little long (lasts 2 hours and 6 minutes) but the story is worth it.

I totally like it, and I will watch it again, thats for sure!
smirkingcat: (Default)
it's an movie from the year 1981- its much older than myself *little shocked*- but its one of the most cute things I've ever seen
the animation level, giving the age is amazing, and some ideas I've seen there for the first time, and are even now new
sometimes I#ve seen things that reminded me of gake no ue no ponyo but I do not mean to say that they are very similar, its just sometimes there was a feeling like: ah in ponyo something like that was too, but it was different (since both stories are reaallly different)
sirius no densetsu is a anime for children, but you may also enjoy it, if you like music, because it was done by the NHK Symphony Orchestra and its very amazing and makes the anime enjoyable
if you do not like animes with little text and conversation this may not fit your taste XD

I liked it and enjoyed it BIG time because it was funny, a little sad, and the music was just amazing good movie !!!

omg, that anime was something else, at first I wanted just to take a look at it, and my plan was to watch each day one or tow episodes, well that lasted till today, today I saw all from episode 3 till 23 >_> it took me hours of course, but it was just soo great, I could not stop, one is really pulled in the story, the different style thats not like everything else thats produced this days, was also a really good extra, and that the story makes a lots of turns one would not expect, just great
also the animation level is really really high, and the characters are well drawn
defiantly one of the best animes I ever saw, and i will watch it again for sure
