Prompt # 150: April showers bring May flowers
Use the phrase itself, or just convey the meaning in some way.

-You may use the prompt as a direct quote, a phrase, or simply convey it somehow in your creation.
-You're free to write/draw any fandom, pairing, threesome, gen fic, etc.
-Fic of all length, art, drabbles, drawbles, poetry, etc, are all welcome.
-Combine the prompt with other challenges, etc if you can.
-Please crosspost your entry to the community. (You may of course post to your journal and simply link back when you post to the community.)
-You have until the last day of the month to submit an entry.
-If you wish, you can also post on the ao3 collection.

April Challenge 2026: Rain

The theme challenge for this month is Rain (Please include the tag challenge: rain when you post.) Theme challenges have to do with fic choice. Since this month's challenge is 'rain' your story has to be related to that theme one way or another.
The shape challenge is 'Circle' (tag challenge: circle). This should be at minimum 8 squares, ie:

Shape challenges require that you complete a specific shape of squares on your card. If you complete a shape challenge by the deadline, you’ll win a cheat. If your card already has the shape formation before the challenge starts, you can only count that challenge as completed if you fill at least one square on your card within the challenge time period.
You can pick the challenge you prefer or do both if you're feeling ambitious. Once you’ve posted the podfic required to fulfill the monthly challenge, please comment here to let us know you’ve completed the challenge.
If you complete a challenge, you earn a cheat. If none of the challenges appeal to you, you can also earn cheats by commenting on other people's podfics.
What are Cheats?
Cheats are rewards that allow participants to manipulate their cards so that they can be finished more easily. There are 2 kinds of cheats: shifting squares and swapping out squares. Shifting squares allows participants to swap locations of two squares on their card. Swapping out cheats allow you to discard one of your prompts entirely from your card and replace it with a prompt of your choosing from the Prompt List.

Podficcer sign-up date/s: April 1st through April 28th at 11:59 PM UTC
Challenge period: Server opens April 30th, final challenges close May 30th
Voiceteam is a Discord-based annual event for the podfic community. Players are grouped into teams of around a dozen players each. Then across three week-long rounds in May, players can earn points for their team by making voice-based or voice-adjacent creations that fulfill different challenges. Each round begins with ten new challenges being revealed, and then teams are set loose to strategize, create, earn points, and have fun!

Congratulations on another wonderful Podfic Big Bang! The collection was revealed at 7am Pacific time, or 2am AOE (UTC-12), but I'm not looking twice at anyone who squeaked in during those two extra hours. 😜
This year, we can enjoy 25 new epic works, across 28 different fandoms (with a little overlap for thing like Marvel>Captain America, as per uzh).
Now, go. FEAST!

WIP Wednesday
Apr. 1st, 2026 02:39 pmfirethesoundNew words this week : 6,037 words which is a little bit less, but pretty good considering this week has been bananas so far. Much less writing time + some of my writing time went to beta-reading a thing + some of my writing time went to editing/outlining.
WIPs worked on this week : 5, with no new WIPs (yay!)
...and you can see by the number of WIPs I went skipping through that words were tough this week. I knew the second half of March would be rough and wow did it take its toll. Still, we're back to normal (or normal-ish) here. I've gotten my regular writing time today and actually got some good words out of it, even though I spent the bulk of it rereading the previous chapter in food truck, trying to get back in the brainspace to write that fucking thing.
The Old Guard
☆ food truck au : 3,359 words which brings the total to 116,376 words and I'm struggling on it. I got kind of hung up on one piece of feedback on my last chapter, but I think I've mostly worked through it now. Chapters are still running long, I ended up adding another one and I've got another two that I think will be long enough that I'll have to split them up. So, all things considered, I have another 8 chapters to finish and I think probably about another 50k. I don't even know anymore. I'm pretty bummed I didn't get to start posting it last month like I wanted to, and I'm probably not going to be able to post it this month either. Hopefully in May, though. I really really don't want it to go beyond May.
☆ werewolf au : 172 words which brings the total to 14,245 words and this was just poking at it a little bit because I couldn't remember one bit in it, went to reread, and then ended up writing a little. Still can't wait to work on this one, oh my god it's going to be so good.
☆ kintsugi : 969 words which brings the total to 1,497 words and I put it to my beta which pwp I should write because it's been six months and I would love to finish and post something, and this was the one she picked. Wrote almost 1k before petering out on it because it turns out I'm not great at writing BDSM, ugh. I need to go reread some of my faves to get my head around it and then take another run at this one. It's the sequel to The Everyday Uses of Ordinary Objects (the cockwarming one) and should only be about 4k total so it's almost halfway done.
☆ early days pwp : 1,715 words which brings the total to 3,379 words and this was the other one I was thinking about trying to finish up and post. Should only be about 6-7k total, so it's also about half done. Planning to do this one after the other one.
☆ redamancy part ?? : 153 words which brings the total to 663 words and hey this one is DONE! It's a missing scene from the second movie, but I have a few more to finish up in the series that come before it so I can't post it yet. Still, it's nice to have something finished. It also got me to go back to poke at the next part which is a lot closer to done than I remembered it being. Maybe I ought to work on this series first? Idk idk...
