Author's Notes:story has made up magic rules - i don't think it's a warning per se, but i wanted to state it somewhere, this chapter is done in a hurry because a lot came up in my real life, and i started my christmas cooky bake marathon on top of it...

Chapter 14
He slowly walked slowly around the manor.
Yesterday after his breakfast Theo and Neville had visited him. Apparently Malfoy had spoken to them, and had told them that he deserves a reward for not losing his control at their outing. At least that was what Neville told him. He doubted it was phrased that way by Malfoy, but he certainly wasn't complaining.
And the best part was, Theo told him he was allowed to go around the house. He had to promise to go back into the room as soon as he feels his control slipping, and he was not allowed to go outside alone. But even this manor felt like the world after months in just one room.
He looked amazed as he walked into what was obviously the dining room. There was a huge buffet off al kinds of meals, some he couldn't even name! And then there was a large tree made out of Fruits, with small sweets shaped like candies around it.
"Of course. The elves have gone all out just because you will be dining out today."
He rolled his eyes. He would never get used to the way Malfoy talked. Everything out of that mouth sounded condescending and disapproving. Nothing could ever please the Malfoy heir, he was certain of that.
"Why are you here? And what is that all about?" He asked instead of letting his temper flare up. Apparently doing those exercises the Occlumency books advised was helping with his temper.
"Some of your friends have plans over Christmas, and therefore won't be here: So they want to celebrate an early Christmas dinner with you. I am just here to keep bad things from happening. I doubt many of them will be pleased to see me, but for seeing the great Harry Potter even my existence can be endured."
"To my friends I am just Harry. They know about my weaknesses and flaws. They are my friends. And some of my friends are your friends too."
For the first time he could feel his magic wanting to push and punish and do just something but he didn't let it. The more he focused on not letting his magic run wild, the faster his temper cooled down. And for the first time he really thought that there might be a chance that he could be normal again. Well, as normal as he was.
He turned around to finally look at Malfoy, only to see the back of the man as he walked towards the window.
"Well Potter, at least your control has improved. So now we only have to figure out a way to make you let go of all that wild magic in you."
The words sounded distanced and rather forced. He couldn't help what that was all about. It made no sense.
"So when I won't be a danger to everybody else, will that be the moment you will tell me where you have been? Why you haven't come back. And have that long overdue talk?" He asked because.... he couldn't say why. Malfoy was off, and that somehow put him off.
"Only in your delusions, and if you really believe that we will have such conversations then you must be delusional. I am helping you because apparently nobody else can. And that is the only reason. Also I believe your friends have arrived, so try to keep it together."
Before he could come up with a witty remark or even try to get more out of Malfoy he was surrounded by people and was overwhelmed just by seeing them all again.
