i struggle with this review- a lot
because even after 2 weeks my mind is not yet made up.
overall the movie wasn't that bad. but even sitting in the best places the cinema had to offer, and being excited about it- honestly i was bored a lot during the movie

and i know this is unfair, but the actor playing darth vader this time simply had not the same charisma as the original one and sadly even as the actor of anakin skywalker carried that costume better. let me specify that- in the original series (part 4-6) each time darth vader is on screen, it's hard to look away from him and notice anything besides him he is just so THERE! and your heart rate goes up and his voice is hammering through your body. and then in the prequels- and yes i know many people criticize the anakin actors in the prequels but i thought in the episode 3 he really did a good job- at least when you ignore his rapy stares at amidala *inside joke is inside* and when he puts the suit on and only caries it for the short scenes- he still carried it with a weight- a presence to it that was close to the original.
this time it really sucked - i sometimes hoped there would be more to the screen so that it gave me something to look at...
and then there was this love story that pretended to not be right from the get go. and don't get me wrong as an huge h/d writer i'm all for banter, enemies to lovers, and agonizing the one you crush on, but truly i mean that in the best way possible- i have read better hd-fanfiction than that...
let's leave it at that and go on:
to chirrut imwe and baze malbus! those two were absolutely fantastic and really awesome and entertaining! i liked them a lot! and as characters they grew on me incredible fast! they were so entertaining in their own amazing ways. movies need more characters like these two
K-2SO on the other had was a character i would have done good without. really he comes across as a cheap C3PO double mixed with R2-D2 in him. and boy he got on my nerves a lot! i know he was supposed to be sassy but really - and this might have been due to the german translation - be he was just annoying! BIG time
bodhi rook on the other side was interesting but he was also a deus ex machina on the go- whatever they needed he got it, knew it, knew where to find it. besides that, he was an entertaining character.
and the ships and battles and even the death star were amazing! and truly awesome (not the shield part tough, really what is it with this guys and shields around planets?)
so it was not bad, but it's not the best of the star wars either...

and yes i know i still have to watch episode 7 *headdesks*
but i figure i will wait for it to be close for the release of episode 8 so that i have it fresh in mind.

Side note, I've met David Prowse, the man who was originally in the suit in the original movies. He's pretty awesome.

I want all the fanfic with these two... them younger years, nights of passion, hot and sexy, and then growing old and becoming snarky old couple and then always being together... so so so so amazing. Really.

K-2SO on the other had was a character i would have done good without.

My GF hated him too. I didn't mind him. I think snarky droid is a Star Wars thing and I seem to accept it. Though, they were trying a bit too hard maybe, I'll agree. I was also kind of glad that he was destroyed. LOL OMG.

and the ships and battles and even the death star were amazing! and truly awesome (not the shield part tough, really what is it with this guys and shields around planets?)

HAHAHAHA I laughed so hard at this. I completely agree.

So you haven't seen the force awakens yet so I'll tell you, I liked rogue one FAR more than TFA, but my GF liked TFA wayyy more than rogue one.

I hope you enjoy it. I think I have a disney link somewhere for the force awakens, if you want it, I can share it with you and maybe you can watch the movie. Who knows. If you want it. then I have to find it, lol... now i am just repeating myself.

I enjoyed your review.

to be honest i see them more in a kind of a-sexual relationship: he is a blind monk and baze is a soldier who has lost his wife and children to the empire - like two solders in there different ways helping to make it through live - but that might be me and having a sorta kinda real life example of such a brotherhood!

that was such a moment when he FINALLY shut up!!! like really i felt a knot in my stomach go away, he was actually THAT annoying

right? i mean shields? around a planet? that is all kind off unproductive and unhelpful... but whatever

i got the movie!
i just have to watch it- but thanks for the offer!!!
and i will do a review on it, and i shall let you know how i liked it!
thanks for your amazing comment <3

I absolutely adored Chirrut Imwe! I thought at the time it was because of my Donnie Yen obsession (the actor), but I am so glad to see that it isn't just me!! He is a brilliant actor, so maybe this will help him get more proper roles in western movies, not just "generic Asian bad guy".

They really need to realise that romance just isn't going to happen in every movie. Not every story needs it.

Apparently he didn't want to go through th whole "playing the bad guy in every single thing until he made it" thing. So he stayed in China and Hong Kong, mainly, until he got something he liked the sound of. And Star Wars is a brilliant introduction! :D

yeah well that is his right- honestly why should he?
and yay for him having liked star wars- though i believe at this point no one will ever say no to star wars (which might over time make it rather bad)
