Review: Akagi (The Dorama)
May. 23rd, 2016 10:15 amat the start i have to explain that i have no clue about mahjong in the player modus as i started watching this drama and although loads of it is explained i still did not understand it all... that however did not influence my excitement watching this fantastic drama
i also have no started (very little with slow process) to educate myself on japanese mahyong (i think maybe the "memory one where you have to find a pair is either a fake one or maybe i chinese version? i have not looked into that yet) the game however is quite fascinating, still i believe i am more of a hanafuda type
if you get interested in riichi mahjong here are some links:
finally i have to confess that i know nothing about the manga or the anime that has been released to that as well- i just saw the stuff as i was searching for a j-drama trailer (which i oddly enough did not find), but paid no mind to anything else
and i have no clue if knowing the game or not improves how you see it, i was just completely knocked out of my socks
- this dorama thrives with mere 9 actors and like 2 main cast and 4 for the support and still it gives you all the excitement
- the last time i saw hongo kanata was in "yankee-kun to megane-chan" where he gave a excellent performance as izumi- i know some westerns complained about the way he moved his mouth but that is a cultural thing, and for me he was sooo good!
- it is not a brutal drama but there is
- blood
- excitement
- so much agonizing
- some advice that can be taken away for life
- i did mention that there is agonizing loads of it! but it is sooooooo good
- it never ends- like one time you think, ok you can relax now, but then you see how WRONG you were
- it feels like a book i was sucked in and watched as long as my eyes would let me, and that does not happen that easily with tv shows for me -YES it is that great
- i must also confess i really like that japanese ppl in tv can still smoke, i know it's bad and i am a non smoking person but in movies it just looks so good!
- i nearly died because of the excitement of a card game! when has this ever happened in movies about games? like i have seen casino royal (and was boooored) but i also know a lot of poker players and they all said the same thing: with such hands as they had there was no other way for the game to turn out… so they were rather displeases about that and for a 007 movie these scenes are too fucking long (not that i am a fan in the first place, the last i saw on purpose was "die another day" and that had greatly to do with madonna singing the tile song
- the end! which may have to do that i did not watch anything else or have even heard from akagi the manga before
