Author's Notes: well and then i wrote this, after saying that yesterdays 500 words were way too long, and i need to get back in the range of 200 to 300 words... that worked out marvellous!
Harry was rather proud of his home. It was not exactly a stately home, but then again he was not a stately wizard, he was just Harry. And so he had a small cottage in Cotleigh, not right next to Godric's Hallow, but in the vicinity, so that in some way it was more than just one home coming, after he first bought his home.
And today it was the day. Draco would come over for the first time, with all the implications such a visit implies. Though Draco had refused, point blank and even before he accepted the invitation, to stay the night.
Still this felt like a major step, and after having spend the first half of the day cooking he had spent the rest of the day cleaning and making his home look as welcoming as it possible can. He wanted Draco to like it here!
Draco arrived right on time, and Harry opened the door for him with a huge grin on his lips. "Hello, come in come in, it's too cold to linger outside", he greeted Draco and opened the door further to let Draco in.
"Thank you for your invitation," Draco said, and offered Harry a bottle of wine, and a lovely box of chocolates. Harry smiled excitedly at the gifts. He couldn't help it, to this day, gifts always made him giddy.
"Dinner will be done soon, do you want to see the house first? I cleaned especially for the occasion, you know?" Harry grinned.
"I do hope you also clean if nobody is coming for a visit," Draco replied, eyebrow raised.
"No telling," Harry sing-songed, before he moved his arm in an elaborated way. "As you can see, this is the entrance, as my house tends to be on the smaller side, you find the linen closet right here on the right side, and the living you see here to the left. And in the back you already see the table."
As a first reaction the eyebrow was raised even more, but as Harry moved on, a small grin appeared on Draco's lips. "I see" he said, sounding amused.
"If you follow me please," Harry went through the living room, and deeper into the cottage, caressing his dining table as he passed it. The table comfortable seated six people, and if he needed more space, there was always wizarding space. Magic was a glorious thing to behold, and Harry loved being part of the magical world.
He stepped through the first doorway: "This is the kitchen, with the backdoor and two windows, one on each site. When I am alone I eat here, we will also be eating here," he explained.
"Potter you might not believe me, but I was able to deduce both, that this is your kitchen, and the fact that we are eating here, by simply looking at the room, and seeing the set table. You do, however have a very nice backyard view, and I can understand why you like your kitchen this much."
Harry smiled sheepishly, scratching the back of his head. "Right. Well, if we follow this hallway you find here the bathroom, and the last room is my bedroom," Harry said opened the door.
Draco was unable to hide his curious expression even from Harry. And then Draco laughed. "Well I am glad you do not follow they advice given on your cushions, I would be rather rude, entering your home with you being awake. But at least, I dare say, a nice new blanket, will always be a fitting gift."
At first Harry just stared at Draco uncomprehending. He den turned around in his room. His bed was presently made. Sadly, the joke gift from George – cushions with different writings depending on the seasons – once again reclaimed their spot on top of it, and not, where Harry had put them before, on top of the cupboard.
"Err – I can explain?" He said unsure.
"Oh, I can't wait to hear that explanation over dinner," Draco said and turned around to go back in the direction of the kitchen. "You do have a very cosy home, Potter," Draco said, without turning around.
Harry couldn't help but smile. Mission accomplished.
