Harry couldn’t help himself. He imagined Draco’s rooms- well, he imagined just one room, and that very different to what it was. Sure, there was some green: the curtains, the velvet cover of the sofas and the seats, a little in the carpet. But overall it was very big but empty. There were the books Draco obviously was reading right now, and the parchment and quills, but no pictures or trinkets on the surfaces, no figurines like Luna had all around and no Quidditch posters on the wall like Ron did.
Still, the room did not feel unlived in, it was cosy and warm but it hand an aura of focus to it, that Harry never imagined Draco Malfoy would need.

With a wide grin he took the offered plate from Draco’s hand: “So flaming plum cake is a normal thing for your Christmas season?” He asked because he was genuinely interested.

“More often than not yes. It was my grandmothers favourite Christmas pudding, and as a tradition we just kept it on. I myself prefer gingerbread but I like this one too,” Draco shrugged, his brows furrowed together.

“Wanna talk about something else?”

“I do not wish to talk at all. How did you even figure out where I was? And how did you find the secret way?” Draco sighed and put his own plate down on the table, after only three small bites. He leans back and pulls his feet up besides him, half looking out the window, half looking at Harry.

Harry tried to hide his smiles, because while Draco appeared rather unapproachable he also had asked questions, so the conversations was by no means over.

“Actually I only found it with pure luck, and that the magic around it, made the snow shift a little bit. It looked weird, seeing the small flocks falling down and then hitting something invisible. Though I never would have guessed what it was hiding. And if I hadn’t walked into the small wood at the border, I would never have found it. So I guess your secret is safe,” Harry answered the seconded question.

“My mother knows about it, though I doubt she thinks about it or really remembers it clearly. It had been Theo’s mother who helped us with the spells,” Draco spoke softly, and there seemed to be so much longing and pain in his voice.

“As for finding out where you were, that was easy. But it’s hard to explain, it was more like I knew you would be behind that window than anything else? Magic!” Harry went on, trying to lighten the mood a bit.
Though most likely he understood how easy it was to brood in Christmas time.

“Most likely yes. Maybe some residue from when I helped you, we should be carefully observing- “

“Draco, I meant that as a joke. Truly you are a mad scientist. I knew because you lit up the room, while everything else was fairly dark,” Harry rolled his eyes. Then he put a bite of cake in his mouth to keep from smiling. This side of Draco was rather endearing.

“I can see that grin, no amount of food will ever be able to hide that,” Draco said, not even moving his head.

“Does the attempt at least count?” Harry asked just to make sure.

“No, Potter. And if this is you flirting... you really need to step up your game,” Draco drawled, raising his eyebrow at Harry.

“I thought flirting wasn’t allowed?”

“I thought you life to break rules?”

“You tell me to not break rules and behave?”

“And since when did you start listening to me?”

“Since I wanted you to see that I can play nicely too, and you know... be reliable and well stuff.”

“A stutter, Potter, really? That won’t be impressive in polite society.”

“You are exasperating!”

“Quite the contrary. You will find that I am teasing. But I learned that you always failed to distinguish between the two.”

“Just for the record Malfoy, it is not me who wants to do things slowly, and if you aren’t careful I’ll show you how fast I can go,” Harry said, putting down his own plate.
