Draco knew he grew up spoiled. There are many things he never had to do, because nobody in his family ever had to do them. For certain types of labour that is what the family has house elves for.
That is why he was utterly baffled why Harry thought it was a good idea that he should be the one to be tasked with the fairy lights. Well, it didn't exactly start out that way. There were the bulbs first, and then they had a fight that one cannot simply spell the bulbs on the tree. Which ended in a extraordinaire shouting match, with the outcome that Potter spelled down all the bulbs he spelled up, and shoving the box with the fairy light strings at Draco's chest.
At that point Draco was not really capable anymore to have a witty comeback, because he still did not like that he could not do things his way. So, he grabbed the box and stomped out of the living room and into the study, kicking the door shut with a satisfying BANG.
Sadly, since he never did something even closely similar before, he was not aware that trying to spell the fairy lights straight, simply ended up in a bigger mess and even more knots.
That result made everything even worse, and had him huffing and cursing and in his mind hexing Potter into two weeks into the future. And then, after his tantrum he sat down and started with one end to untangle the damn mess. A decorated house needed fairy lights after all, and he loved the season too much, to disappoint himself that way.
The door opened softly. "Hey," Harry looked in shy smile on his lips. "It's nearly dinner time, you know?"
"Well good for dinner, but I am not done here, feel free to eat without me," Draco said. And though he calmed down a lot, and the task was relaxing, he never was one to let go of a grudge. And being banned from decorating the tree?! He was not about to let that go.
"May I help you?" Harry asked, and stepped carefully into the room. "I could start on the other end?"
Draco looked up from his task, because the wording of the question, simply didn't seem to fit Harry. "Actually there is not much to help right now..." Draco started to say, because it was true, everything would be even more complicated with Harry working on the other end, but then he saw the look in Harry's eyes, and knew he already has lost. "Sure, start from the other end, but we have to work together, so that we both can untangle."
Harry nodded and sat down, and started on the other end. And they did really great working together.
As every light was untangled, and the string ready to be hung Harry say: "I did not decorate the tree, I think we should do that together."
First Draco was surprised, because that was what they fought about in the first place, but then he just smiled at Harry. The tree was important to the both of them, many things were, they were similar, but they were also different. It was the essence of their steady relationship after all.
