In your own space, share a favorite piece of original canon (a TV episode, a song, a favorite interview, a book, a scene from a movie, etc) and explain why you love it so much. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
booooy, this is a hard one and to say it before anything else Harry Potter does not even make it in my top 10, that is the reason why i write so much in HP- the harry potter canon (if you cut away all the bullshit and go by either only the movies or only the books- you can't take them both together because they contradict each other) is such a mess, that it is every fanfic-writers dream. it is so easy to make something out of it for your own...
a complete other thing is going on with Gundam Wing, where all you just want to do is add a bit of sexiness and drama to it - its my top 2 canon, it is awesome;
and then i have two top 1 spots and no third place: Darker than Black and Claymore...
well i dont have the time but i have the love:
Darker than Black the original anime - not the manga, and not Darker than Black2 because that shit got weird there, is an amazing anime that is driven by action and focuses on characters with an overlying plot; and i have watched it about 30 times now already and every time i see it, i notice a subplot, a detail a thing that went over my head the first watch. the most amazing thing is the first time you watch it- MAKE sure nobody spoils it for you and just dive in, in this amazing free fall!
( spoilers )
for Claymore its the manga that got me, because it is so amazing, sadly it is one of those stories where my favourite character dies rather early, but what makes claymore so fantastic are the characters first and then the action driven plot! and boy it is an amazing plot, also it has swords, i mean is there any argument better than swords?
and my favourite part in that story is the time that irene gives her arm to clare, knowing that this was her own death but the overall goal was more important. this scene is such a punch its awesome.
the whole anime to me is very motivating but also about a good moral compass- when to respect the rules and when to break it; especially since it comes with the message: "There are rules, but we choose to obay them." and that is something people today think way to little about, in my opinion: i dont have to obey the law, and there might be a point where it is to expensive to obey it, so that i will chose to break it. And basically everybody has that right. a right that is only afforded to those who think. and claymore showcases that so, so beautifully, and at the same time very dramatically.
as an extra-point the anime is also very good (but not finished like the manga is because in the manga the plot is fully resolved) and the blood animation is really beautiful- not wolfs rain beautiful- but still awesome beautiful and in such amazing colouring and shading. it's just wonderful! especially for the age.
