My Friends’ fault

Harry cursed his friends as he was walking up the hill, towards the large iron gates. Each and every one of them, because that is all they deserved. What were the thinking? And even more so, why was he doing what they said?

Because it was a game of truth or dare, and as he didn’t want the question, he had to take the dare. Not that the dare made it even better.
Bringing a Yule Greeting to Draco Malfoy in person was not as easily done as it was said.

Harry, who might still a bit obsessed with Draco, knew too well that all the Malfoy’s had turned int recluses after the war. Parkinson and Zabini did some of the shopping for Draco, when there was nobody who would answer the Malfoy request per owl. They had a grocer, who charged them about a fourth more than the normal customers, but delivered per owl.

So, the chances that they would actually open him are close to zero, still.

He knocked against the gate, and then waited. And waited. And waited some more, until he decided he was going to count until sixty before he waited long enough to fulfil the dare.

It was right when he hit the sixty, that the gate opened with a loud moaning noise. Harry rolled his eyes, because really he was nearly gone, before he entered the grounds.

The silence that greeted him was crushing at first but soon it started to feel calm and crisp. The grounds were covered in white snow, and all over he could see the track of different animals. And then he saw it, a richly decorated tree right in front of the entrance to the Manor house.

It was breathtakingly beautiful, and he could already see the small fairies, who would set it ablaze when it became dark. But instead of living in baubles they were flying around freely. Harry wondered how the Malfoys did that, and so he went to get a closer look.

“Potter, is there a reason for your visit?”

Harry turned around so abruptly he nearly lost his footing.

“Ehh- Draco- I mean Malfoy. I was just admiring your tree-“

“I noticed that, but even the Manor can cool down with an open front door, this time of the year,” Draco replied.

“It’s just, I never saw elves staying freely with a tree? How are you doing that?” He had to know.

“It’s nothing dark or anything. You get their queen to move into your nest, and they stay around. Especially as we invite ice fairies, they like the cold, and they like to make it glitter and shine, so the decoration is like a playground to them. Is there anything else, we can do for you?” Draco said.
It sounded a bit aggregated to Harry, and he could understand, but his damn friends and their stupid dares, made it so that he had to go into the house.

“Well, I came to wish you and your family, a happy Yule, and I brought a Yule log cake, for tea, if you were so nice to invite me,” Harry tried to state as if it was the most normal thing to go anywhere without an invitation.

“You want to come into the house?” Draco asked. “You want to have tea with us?”

“Eh yes, like a Yule greeting?”

“Are you asking me, or are you saying?” Draco asked again.

“Well, a bit of both honestly. It’s kinda weird, to invite myself over, you know?”

Draco let out a deep sigh. “At least you know that what you are doing is weird, so why are you doing it? it’s not like we were friends, and you hate my family. so why are you here?”

“I like your mother, she is truly brave, and she loves you very much,” Harry said, and tried to think about how to answer the second question. “I am here because my friends dared me to come here. Apparently I talk to much about you… so they wanted to do something about it.”

“Sending you here without an invitation is doing something about it? Potter, I dare say you might need new friends,” Draco said, both is eyebrows rised.

“I kinda agree with you, so wane be my first new friend?” Harry asked, trying to be charming.

Draco rolled his eyes. “Let’s not get your cake to waste, and my mother will be delighted to have a visitor. If you can behave yourself, I may invite you again,” Draco said and walked towards the entrance.

Harry grinned. This was going better than he thought already.
