It was a big step. Gargantous even. But after years, Harry had finally asked Draco to come to the Weasley Christmas Dinner with him. They would celebrate Christmas tomorrow on their own, but as the family had been nagging him to bring his partner.

So, here they were. It was loud, it was gaudy, in Draco's word, and Draco didn't even need to speak for Harry to understand that. And it was very far removed of Draco's comfort zone. Draco could handle an eleven course dinner, chose the right utensil and the right drink every new course. But this chaos, with apparently no rules and many different people mingling, was not that easy for him to handle.
Draco kept to short answers and tried to not speak to much. Harry felt for him, because while he came to understand that sarcasm was Draco's expression of amusement, and that his boyfriend liked to exchange barbs more than compliments. It must have been hell for Draco. And yet he was still besides Harry, endured the questions and tried to make nice with everyone.

"Time for Crackers," George shouted over the room, handing out beautiful crackers, but with an evil smirk on his face.

"George, don't," Harry hissed at him.

"Nothing to worry Harry, these are fun I promise," George replied, handed him a cracker and winked at him. Which only lead to Harry being worried even more.

"Relax Potter," Draco said. And then there was a small, hidden caress around his wrist, striking over his pulse point. Harry looked at Draco surprised. Draco was not the touching type. At least not when others were around, which were not insignificant muggles or his friends.

"You know I am worried about you. I can handle it," Harry mumbled.

"I will survive. I promise," Draco smiled at him.

They all come together in a huge circle. George having his arm around Luna said. "Time to crack this Christmas. And remember the house tradition: losers have to wear the hats!" And with that the pulling started.

And then the laughing started. Because George had filled the crackers not only with one sweet, which nobody dared to eat, but also with huge hats that took the shape of different animals. This was how Ron was forced to wear a spider hat, and Charlie ended up with a duck-shaped hat.

"We still can run, you know?" Harry offered, because he was not certain how the shape of the hat was determined, but then he was shoved in the side by Ron. "Too late, mate. Your turn."

"Think about survival, Potter."

"You underestimate his luck, Ferre- ferociously lucky is what Harry is. Especially against you, Malfoy."
It was nearly a perfect save.

Draco rolled his eyes. And most likely nobody but Harry noticed how he bit his lip. And Harry felt himself fall a bit more in love with him. Though really if Ron was dishing out, he should also be able to take it. But maybe that is better saved for next year.

Then Draco took his half of the cracker and pulled.

And Harry won. But as the hat popped out of the cracker, Harry wished that he hadn't.

"Go on Draco, let your Gryffindor roar," George shouted.

Draco stared at the Gryffindor hat. And Harry just wanted to apparate them away, because this was Draco's first visit.

"You know George, no matter how much you try to dress me as a Gryffindor now, I was a Slytherin in school, and nothing will change that," Draco's drawl was so dry that Harry feared something will go wrong.

But George simply grinned, Ginny stepped on Ron's toes, and Draco put on the lion hat, which did in fact roared.

"I told you to relax. I will survive."

"You will, but I am not so sure if I might." Harry answered. And the smile that remark earned him made his heart flutter a bit more.
