Harry knew that compared to Draco he was a bit of a simpleton. He didn't mind that, and in fact he knew that it made their relationship good. There was a certain balance that they both enjoyed.
Harry was also aware that neither of them were classically handsome. Draco was to pointy, he was a bit to gangly, even after having buffed up. But Harry would still call Draco handsome, and clever, and marvelous at times when Harry was stuck and Draco managed to unstuck him.
Maybe it was because he seldom had gotten compliments, that the liked to give them, and the way Draco blushed was also a nice reward. Also by the way, as he acted all embarrassed showed, at least to Harry, that Draco himself was not so used to get compliments, which came as a surprise given how confident Draco always acted. But he guessed that was just how a Malfoy was supposed to act.
So, Harry was understood that compliments were not something he should expect. Well, that was not entirely true. Draco complimented things he did, things he selected, the food he cooked, the garden he kept… a number of things really, just not Harry as a person. And it was really alright.
But that made it also so baffling, that when he was, lounging on the sofa in the winter garden, reading a book they just picked up at Flourish and Blotts, Draco came an, stopped at the door and said: "Sometimes I forget how comfortable you can make me feel."
"I can do that?" He asked surprised.
"Sometimes. Usually you are all nervous energy and zooming around like a fuzz ball. But then you are also like this, all calm, warm and cosy, and I just ... " Draco stopped speaking, and as Harry lifted his book, he snuggled up on him.
"You are a very good man, and I don’t mean that in the world saving sense, but in the partner sense, you know?"
Harry couldn't see Draco's face, but he was able to see the bright red tips of the ears.
"I didn't know that, so thanks for telling me," Harry replied softly, cradling his fingers through Draco's silky hair. "You know, I can say the same about you? You are a partner I can lean on, solid as a rock for eighty percent of the time, until you erupt like a volcano... makes living with you interesting and amazing," Harry whispered in Draco's ear, before he leaned down to kiss Draco on the head, before he returned to his book.
