Worth the wait
Harry liked the way Draco let him hold his hand on the way to Draco’s apartment.

At first Harry was getting irritated because Draco insisted on a traditional courting, which was a fancy way of saying no sex until after marriage, and no petting until at least six months.

Harry had believed Draco was joking when he first heard those terms, but the door shut right in his face taught him differently.

But now four months into dating Draco he didn’t mind so much anymore. Sure, he wanked a lot more than he had ever done before, but it was kinda sweet. And then there was the knowledge that if he lasted Draco would be his, and only his.

And Draco had a natural sex appeal that was hard to dismiss, especially the way he moved on the dance floor.

But over the last month bringing Draco home had become his favourite time. They didn’t need to talk anymore, and a soft feeling of companionship had settled in between them. Sometimes Harry could already understand Draco without having him say a word.

And then after the turned the corner at the red letter box, and then walked up the stairs to Draco’s door, he would get to kiss Draco. And that kiss, like the emotions Draco made him feel, made it all worth.

Next month Harry would be allowed to invite Draco into his own home and cook for him. As a chaperone they decided that they would choose Luna. She knew the tradition, and both could accept her being there. Never to mention that between their friends Luna was most likely the only one behaving in a cordial way. Harry’s own friends found the notion of a traditional courtship ludicrous, especially as Harry must have dinner with Draco’s family every seventh meeting, and he will have to ask Lucius for his son.

And even Draco’s friends did not understand why Draco wanted a traditional courtship.

Draco had promised Harry that one day he would explain. Harry had no doubt that this “one day” was not going to be anywhere in the next ten years. But he didn’t mind.
